THE  LEGACY

 

Formed in 1999, the North Avenue Community Development Corporation (NACDC) is a non-profit 501c(3) created by a consortium of local non-profit organizations, brought together by the Helen Bader Foundation, to identify economic development opportunities in its target area, and leverage access to resources to encourage sustainable and significant economic growth and development.  The NACDC's "target area" encompasses Burleigh St. to the North, Juneau Ave. to the South, Interstate 43 to the East and 46th street to the West. 

The mission of the NACDC is "To implement comprehensive economic development strategies that achieve significant impact along the North Avenue corridor; To expand the local economy, including a thriving business sector, family sustaining jobs and opportunities to generate wealth; and to guide and mobilize individuals in the community to take ownership of and gain access to development resources."

 

 

The vision of the NACDC is to build a community with the following characteristics:
1) Enhance economic vitality and increase commerce along North Avenue;
2) A positive and safe environment for children, adults and families where quality goods and services are available at competitive prices;
3) Access to open spaces, affordable housing, employment, entertainment, life-long learning including technology, health care as well as other daily necessities of life;
4) Offers economic opportunities, including the building of wealth;
5) Increased circulation of dollars within the community;
6) Supports local ownership of property and businesses; and
7) Reaches along North Avenue from I-43 to 46th Street and Burleigh to Juneau.
