Cavalier Johnson
North Avenue Gateway District Main Street Manager
Cavalier ‘Chevy’ Johnson began his tenure with the North Avenue Community Development Corporation in late April of 2010. Prior to becoming the Program Manager for the North Avenue Gateway District in the Main Street Milwaukee program, Chevy worked with Milwaukee area youth in the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) program and the Milwaukee Area Workforce Investment Board’s (MAWIB) Earn & Learn program. Chevy has also worked for private sector and nonprofit entities in Madison, Wisconsin and New York City.
Chevy has spent nearly a decade working with and serving the community. He has logged countless community service and volunteer hours during his time with the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee’s Sponsor-A-Scholar program—which he is still affiliated with today. Chevy has also volunteered his time and energy to causes that he believes in from helping to repair and remodel a YMCA sponsored school for young children in Valparaiso, Chile to assisting the residents of the New Orleans, Louisiana with home repairs soon after hurricanes Katrina and Rita to working with at-risk youth in London, England.
Chevy, a proud Milwaukee native, is a 2009 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Chevy has been politically involved since college, and has worked or volunteered for numerous political functions.
Chevy is thrilled to be working with Main Street Milwaukee, the North Avenue Community Development Corporation, North Avenue Gateway District businesses and neighborhoods to build a stronger community on and around North Avenue for all to enjoy.
